Case Study 02

Ashleigh Whyte

Squarespace · Ecommerce / Portfolio

Client

Ashleigh Whyte, a multidisciplinary artist based in Boorloo/Perth, working across painting, textiles and sculpture. Her practice explores colour, texture and form, creating tactile works inspired by the emotional and sensory relationships between materials.

Goal

The goal was to create a professional online presence that increased Ashleigh's visibility as an artist, while providing a central destination to showcase past exhibitions, portfolio works and available artwork. The website also needed to support ongoing storytelling through artist insights and provide a flexible platform that could evolve alongside her practice.

Challenge

  • No central digital presence existed to showcase Ashleigh's portfolio, exhibitions and professional practice.
  • Limited opportunities existed to increase visibility and provide audiences with a single destination to discover her work.
  • The website needed to support multiple content types — including portfolio pieces, exhibitions, artist writing and an online gallery/shop — within a cohesive user experience.
  • The platform needed to be easy to update independently as new works, exhibitions and content were created.

Approach

  • Facilitated discovery sessions to define audience needs, brand personality and long-term objectives.
  • Developed the information architecture around storytelling, ensuring the portfolio remained the primary experience while naturally supporting ecommerce.
  • Created a contemporary visual identity centred on warmth, simplicity and the artwork itself.
  • Delivered a self-managed Squarespace implementation supported by training, enabling Ashleigh to maintain ongoing ownership without technical reliance.

Solution

Squarespace provided the ideal balance of flexibility, ease of use and scalability, allowing Ashleigh to confidently manage content as her practice continues to evolve. Every design decision reinforced the artwork as the central focus of the experience.

Result

Ashleigh now has a central digital platform that strengthens her online visibility, showcases her evolving body of work and provides a dedicated space to share exhibitions, artist insights and available artwork. The website supports both audience engagement and artwork sales, with nine of the fifteen works originally listed in the Stockroom sold since launch in 2024.
