Sheila Foundation

WordPress · Not-for-profit / Donations

Client

Sheila Foundation — a national philanthropic foundation with the aim of overturning decades of gender bias by writing Australian women artists back into our art history and ensuring equality for today's women artists.

Goal

The goal was to transform the Foundation's website into a strategic fundraising platform that strengthened donor engagement, empowered internal teams and supported the organisation's long-term mission.

Challenge

  • The existing website limited both marketing effectiveness and day-to-day content management.
  • Reliance on developer support prevented the team from responding quickly to campaigns and organisational priorities.
  • An inconsistent digital experience weakened the Foundation's ability to communicate impact and encourage donations.
  • The legacy payment gateway limited reporting capabilities and relied on manual donation management, reducing operational efficiency and visibility into fundraising performance.

Approach

  • Conducted a comprehensive CMS capability audit to evaluate platform limitations and identify the most sustainable path forward.
  • Presented multiple strategic options, balancing functionality, cost and long-term maintainability before recommending a solution.
  • Led both the website redevelopment and brand refresh, creating a unified visual system across digital and print communications.
  • Implemented a modern WordPress environment with flexible content management, marketing integrations and improved governance.

Solution

The website was rebuilt using WordPress and Elementor Pro, delivering a flexible CMS that enabled independent content management, streamlined fundraising and integrated marketing tools (Google Analytics, Gravity Forms, Mailchimp, Stripe). The new platform significantly reduced operational reliance on developers while improving the donor experience.

Result

The redesigned donation journey strengthened the Foundation's fundraising capability, contributing to the successful acquisition of six works by Australian women visual artists. Beyond immediate fundraising outcomes, the organisation now has a scalable digital platform that supports ongoing marketing, storytelling and community engagement.
